This new publishing house offers literature and non-fiction about today’s world in all genres and with a broad perspective on history. Each book published at De bezige Bij Antwerpen is a unique book in which the writer tempts the reader with style, spirit and creativity. Travel stories, cultural history, prose or poetry: at De Bezige Bij Antwerpen we let the writers do the talking and surprise the readers.
Manteau
For decades Manteau has published fiction in the broadest sense of the word: both original literary fiction and translations as well as commercial fiction, especially thrillers, by Pieter Aspe, Luc Deflo and Bob Mendes.
In addition, much importance is attached to children's literature. Our own authors, including Helen Vreeswijk and Jean Claude van Rijckeghem to name just a couple, are in good international company with authors such as JK Rowling, Kevin Brooks and Mourlevat.
The Flemish Literature Fund (FLF) promotes Dutch-language literature in Belgium and abroad.
Foreign publishers may apply for grants for the translation, production and promotion of literary works by Flemish authors. The following genres qualify for support: prose, poetry, literary non-fiction, theatre, children’s and youth literature and graphic novels. In evaluating a project, the FLF considers the literary quality of the book, the status of the publisher and the quality of the translator.
